This section contains the 9 steps of the Maths Champions programme for you to work through.
The programme begins with you, as Maths Champion, accessing bespoke online training and resources to enhanceand underpin your current knowledge in order for you to support the development of the whole staff team. We then move on to providing you with toolsto evaluate current practice to enable you to measure the impact and improvements resulting from your participation in the Maths Champions programme.
This section includes:
- A reflective learning journal to capture the amazing moments of your journey
- Bespoke online training to enhance and consolidate your current knowledge giving you the underpinning information you need to support staff and children to improve outcomes
- Support to carry out focused observations on children in your setting, completing an obervational assessment entering the programme and an observational assessment at the end of the programme to measure impact on children’s learning outcomes and reflect on how effective your maths provision is
- Learning environment audit tool to help you to evaluate how well your setting environment is designed to support children with maths and to assess and enhance the resources you provide for children to support their maths exploration
- Staff confidence audit tool to help you to evaluate how your team feel about supporting and teaching maths in the setting and how this is enhanced through participation
- Action plans to record key priorities, area’s for development and the on-going improvements and impact made as you work through the programme
- A case study to showcase something you have achieved and are really proud of as a result of participating in the programme which can be celebrated

- Use the teaching and learning cycle to support your training delivery
- Understand the range of ways in which learners like to receive information
- Identify barriers to learning and strategies to enable you to overcome these barriers
- Use the training materials to deliver the Basic Child Protection course.
Who should complete this course?
This course is for attendees of NDNA's Advanced Safeguarding for Designated Safeguarding Leads course and who will be responsible for delivering safeguarding training for their organisation.
